Tasting Notes
Light straw in colour. Aromas of freshly picked pear and red apple, grapefruit citrus, lime leaf and rose floral. There is a complexity here too from the solids fermentation with flecks of gun flint and a note of freshly cured dough just hovering in the background. The plate is fresh and lively with juicy pear and pink grapefruit flavors. Textural yeasty notes are all framed by a crisp line of acid that flows through the palate.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was sourced from the north-facing Hazeldene Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.
Winemaker's Notes
Hand-picked and whole bunch pressed with full solids to old French oak puncheons for natural fermentation and subsequent maturation on lees for 3 months prior to bottling.
Vintage Notes
A long, cool growing season with averaging cropping levels and abundant rainfall has resulted in wines of outstanding varietal flavour.

Wine Reviewer
“The nose gives brown pear, autumnal leaves and a touch of bergamot. This is a wine of texture, with a tautness of pear that is laced with citrus acidity; time in barrel has given some dimension with a savoury, yet creamy interlude on the mid palate before driving, just ripe red apple takes over. Good length and mouth feel. A unique and classy wine.” – Patrick Eckel
