Tasting Notes

Pale straw with green hues. Lifted and aromatic from the get-go with floral notes sitting with ripe green spicy notes. Think green papaya, nectarine skin, lime leaf, flint and flecks of cordite to complex. The texture is very much medium bodied. Athletic and controlled yet lithe. It builds as it flows across the palate, better at every stage with more air. The intensity of the fruit flavours and complexing agents growing as the wine breathes. And there’s length to burn with the citrus acidity harmonising with the savoury elements to the finish. A complete and polished wine.

Vineyard Notes

This wine was sourced from the north facing Henk Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock.

Winemaker's Notes

A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine: handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly into 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation followed by 10 months maturing on lees.

Vintage Notes

A long, late and cool growing season with very low crops delivering wines with exceptional flavour, freshness and balance.

Halliday Wine Companion - 96pts

“From the red volcanic soils at Woori Yallock. A bright green gold. Complex with stone fruits, marine scents and pebbles that make this just ever so slightly reminiscent of good Chablis. Restrained, powerful, nutty and long, this is a very good Henk, and one that’s going to go the distance.” – Philip Rich
