Tasting Notes

Deep crimson red with a garnet hue in appearance. Strong berry fruited aromatics leap from the glass, wild strawberry and red currant transcends to dark cherry and pomegranate. Notes of whole bunch spice and tones of earth add layers and complexity that evolve over time. The palate is medium bodied with a dense and powerful core of red fruit that flows along a soft line of acidity. Well handled soft and velvety tannins are layered within the fruit . Complementary notes of brown spice and earth add another dimension. Powerful, long and vibrant.

Vineyard Notes

This wine was sourced from the north facing Henk Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock.

Winemaker's Notes

A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – 80% whole berry fermentation with 20% whole bunch inclusion in open vessels for two weeks followed by a 10 month maturation in French oak barrels.

Vintage Notes

A long, cool growing season with average crops and abundant rainfall has resulted in wines with outstanding varietal flavour and purity.

Halliday Wine Companion - 96pts

“A bright, medium cherry red. Ripe and lifted with dark fruits, rose petals and spice. Even better on the palate, which is sumptuous yet fine with satiny tannins rounding out an impressive wine that will provide lots of pleasure now and over the next five to seven years, if not longer.” – Philip Rich

The Real Review - 96pts

“Medium-deep red-purple colour with a smoked-meat/charcuterie bouquet, a note of dried florals too. A complex bouquet which is intense and alluring. This translates to the palate, where it is sweet-fruited and charming, with gorgeous flavour and mouth-feel. The fruit-sweet core is succulent, the flow beautifully even and lingering. A lovely pinot noir.” – Huon Hooke
