Tasting Notes

Dark burgundy with a light purple hue. This is beautifully aromatic and lifted. Violet like florals, rose water, black cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, and perhaps rhubarb nuance. The palate is lithe, juicy and medium bodied. And it's loaded with those red fruit flavours, cinnamon and cumin notes, some baked strawberry and a little light leafiness. The acidity is refreshing adding a sense of linearity, the tannins fine and powdery, adding a savoury sensibility. The overwhelming sense is of a fresh, juicy athletic wine.

Vineyard Notes

This wine was sourced from the north facing Henk Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock.

Winemaker's Notes

A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine: whole berry/bunch fermentation in open vessels for two weeks followed by a 10 month maturation in French oak vessels.

Vintage Notes

A long, late and cool growing season with very low crops delivering wines with exceptional flavour, freshness and balance.

Halliday Wine Companion - 96pts

“A deepish, bright cherry red. Subtle reduction. Very brightly fruited with its aromas of ripe strawberries, spiced cherries and pomegranate. Firm, in a good way, on the palate. Good energy and drive too. Structured and built to last – one of the themes of the very good 2022 vintage in the Yarra.” – Philip Rich
