Tasting Notes

Deeply purple in colour with a crimson hue. Dark fruited aromatics of plum, dark cherry and cassis transcend to notes of black olive, black pepper and toasted oak. The palate is soft yet layered with a generous core of dark fruit that explodes on the mid palate; these are supported by some plush velvety tannins that are woven intricately into the wine. The acid is gentle and balanced, just hovering in the background but providing length. Seamless Shiraz from start to finish.

Vineyard Notes

This wine was sourced from the north-facing Hyde Park vineyard sited in the grey alluvial loams of Coldstream.

Winemaker's Notes

A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – 90% whole berry fermentation with 10% whole bunch inclusion in open vessels for two weeks followed by a 14 month maturation in French oak puncheons.

Vintage Notes

A cool, long vintage with abundant rainfall and very low cropping levels has resulted in wines outstanding varietal flavour.

Halliday Wine Companion - 96pts

“While Oakridge has been taking fruit from the Hyde Park vineyard (from a 2000-planted block) in Coldstream for some time, this is the first vineyard series release. A saturated and bright crimson purple. Saturated on the nose, too! Aromas of dark fruits, bramble, Asian spices and dark chocolate. Inky and concentrated with ripe, persistent tannins, this can be approached now, but those with the patience to put some in the cellar should be well rewarded.” – Philip Rich
