Tasting Notes
Vibrant purple with a ruby hue. Bright and vibrant with aromatics of cassis and forest berry mixed with white pepper and green olive. Notes of toasty oak hover ever so slightly in the background. The palate is elegant and medium bodied with plum and red currant fruit flavours, with notes of spice adding complexity. Bright yet balanced acidity and fine, long tannins are supportive of the fruit. Light on its feet but with plenty of punch.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was sourced from the north-facing Oakridge vineyard sited in the grey alluvial loams of Coldstream.
Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – 70% whole berry and 30% whole bunch fermentation in open vessels followed by 14 months maturation in French oak puncheons.
Vintage Notes
A cool, long vintage with abundant rainfall and very low cropping levels has resulted in wines of great purity and balance.
