Tasting Notes

Pale straw with a green hue. Lifted aromatics of gooseberry and honeydew melon verging into lime and grapefruit citrus. Flecks of gunflint reduction add complexity. The vibrant palate has depth and texture; a generous core of fruit is framed by a bright grapefruit acid line. Barrel fermentation and time on lees provides a creamy textural element further adding layers to the wine. The finish is long and fine, a wine of varietal freshness coupled with detailed intricacy.

Vineyard Notes

This wine was sourced from the upper Yarra north-facing Willowlake Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.

Winemaker's Notes

A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation and a 10 month maturation on lees.

Vintage Notes

A long, cool growing season with averaging cropping levels and abundant rainfall has resulted in wines of outstanding varietal flavour.

Halliday Wine Companion - 95pts

“A blend of 90/10% sauvignon blanc/semillon. Whole-bunch pressed then fermented and matured in 500L puncheons. Left on lees, unstirred. With its appetising aromas of ripe pear, quince and lemon, this is more white Bordeaux in style than Loire Valley, while the dry, flinty medium-bodied palate has good weight and tension.” – Philip Rich
