Tasting Notes
Bright straw with an electric hue. Aromas of freshly cut nashi pear, lime zest, sea spray and other mineral characters captivate from the beginning. There are subtle hints of cap gun flint and whiffs of baking spice – cinnamon and nutmeg, which all contribute in perfect harmony to the enticing aromatic experience. On the palate, an energetic burst of fresh fruit flavours greet at first sip. Again, nashi pears, some white melon and dried apple, are all carried along on a refreshing line of acidity. There is an element of fruit pith and grip that keeps the mouth salivating. Overall, refreshing vibes with underlying complexity is the story here.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was sourced from the north-facing Hazeldene Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.
Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine - hand-picked and whole bunch pressed with full solids to old French oak puncheons for natural fermentation and subsequent maturation on lees for 6 months prior to bottling.
Vintage Notes
A vintage defined by warm, dry conditions, healthy crops and harvesting in late summer/early autumn. The resulting wines have great intensity of flavour and vibrant, balanced acidities.
