Tasting Notes
Vibrant gold straw in the glass, with a faint pink grapefruit blush to the hue. From the outset, the nose commands attention with an expressive rush of nashi pear, sea spray, crushed rock, and zesty lemon, enriched by white and yellow floral notes. On the palate, crisp green apple, juicy melon, and orchard fruits take center stage, framed by an electric spine of acidity that delivers a salivating, tactile crunch. Refreshing, nuanced, and endlessly drinkable - this is Pinot Gris done right.
Vineyard Notes
This wine was sourced from the north-facing Hazeldene Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale.
Winemaker's Notes
A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine - hand-picked and whole bunch pressed with full solids to old French oak puncheons for natural fermentation and subsequent maturation on lees for 6 months prior to bottling.
Vintage Notes
A cool, wet spring resulted in lower than average yields. A warm, dry summer gave way to moderate temperatures and intermittent rain, leading to a protracted harvest period and delivering wines of exceptional purity and elegance.
