the most exceptional single vineyard sites in the Yarra Valley.
Tasting Notes
Straw in colour with a pale straw hues. The aroma is complex and intense – struck match, white flowers, lemon leaf, white peach and spice. Depth and volume. The palate is pure and fine. There is a great depth of fruit that builds in intensity as it travels across the mid-palate. The acidity is fine and fresh and keeps the palate focused. Complexing textural elements of the barrel fermentation interweave with the fruit and acidity to complete the package. The wine is in a beautiful place now but has a long life to live.
Vineyard Notes
Henk Vineyard, Aqueduct Block. North facing at 260 metres above sea level. Planted in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock in 2008 using the Dijon Clone-95 and cropped at 7.2t/Ha
Winemaker's Notes
All grapes hand harvested and sorted prior to whole bunch pressing directly to French oak puncheons for natural fermentation. 20% of the barrels were new. Post-fermentation, the wine was matured on its fermentation lees for 10 months in barrel followed by a further 6 months in tank prior to bottling after a single filtration.
Vintage Notes
A warm, wet spring followed by a dry summer and autumn period has delivered good crops in near perfect harvesting conditions. Flowering occurred in late October, fruit set in December and harvested on March 1st at 12.4° baume.
