Tasting Notes

Bright and vivacious crimson with a garnet hue, this wine leaps from the glass with bold, deep aromas of dark cherry, concentrated plum, and blueberry. Five-spice and fresh florals lift the fruit into a truly heady bouquet, while flecks of graphite and dark bramble add extra layers to this aromatic medley. The palate seamlessly echoes the nose, delivering a rich core of concentrated cherries, mulberries, and blackberries. Fine, notable tannins structure the powerful fruit, while subtle spice adds further complexity. Beautifully balanced, it carries all the hallmarks of a classic Upper Yarra Pinot Noir - and is set for an exciting journey through time. All the bells and whistles. Get on board!

Vineyard Notes

Henk Vineyard, Aqueduct block. North facing at 260 metres above sea level. Planted in the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock in 2008 using the MV6 clone and cropped at 5.5 t/Ha.

Winemaker's Notes

Hand-picked and sorted prior to destemming 80% of the berries into an open fermenter on top of 20% whole bunches. Fermentation proceeded naturally and lasted three weeks prior to pressing to French oak barrels, of which 10% were new. Malolactic conversion was completed in barrel where the wine remained on its gross lees for 10 months followed by a further 6 months on lees in tank before bottling.

Vintage Notes

A vintage defined by warm, dry conditions, healthy crops and harvesting in late summer/early autumn. The resulting wines have great intensity of flavour and vibrant, balanced acidities. Flowering occuring in late October, fruit set in December and harvest on February 28th at 13.6° baumé.
