Tasting Notes

Bright straw with green hues. A fresh, youthful appearance despite its age. This is right in the hitting zone. A beautiful complex and alluring chardonnay nose - almond praline, nectarines, grapefruit, a light lift of cordite and toast. So complex and evolving. The palate is glassy, smooth and voluminous. More nectarines and assorted stone fruits, sweet pastry, hazelnuts and a whisp of smoke and toast. A wonderful display of line, length and complexity. The finish goes on for minutes.

Vineyard Notes

This wine was sourced from the east-west facing Barkala Ridge Vineyard, sited in the red volcanic soils of Wandin East.

Winemaker's Notes

A traditional winemaking approach was used to produce this wine – handpicking and whole bunch pressing directly to 500 litre French oak puncheons for a natural fermentation followed by 10 month maturation on lees.

Vintage Notes

A warm, wet spring followed by a dry autumn period resulted good crops in near perfect harvesting conditions.
