THE SCORES ARE IN! 

We are delighted to share Oakridge’s ratings from the 2020 Halliday Wine Companion, released this week. It was a truly amazing effort by David and the team, with 20 wines scoring over 90 points (including our 2017 864 Chardonnay and Pinot Noir scoring a whopping 97 pts!).

We were also thrilled to once again earn a ‘5 Star Winery’ rating. This is awarded to wineries that produce wines of exemplary quality and typicity, with a long track record of excellence in the context of their region — truly the best of the best!

 “From the red volcanic soils of Woori Yallock. Hand-picked and sorted,100% destemmed and wild-fermented with 21 days on skins,matured for 12 months in French oak (10% new). Has the wonderful colour ,and the fragrance of spices, forest and red fruits, the palate with luscious fruit encased in silky tannins. Has the balance and length of great young pinot
whatever its provenance”

2017 Oakridge Vineyard Series Sauvignon
– Willowlake Vineyard

“From the long-established Willowlake Vineyard in the Upper Yarra, the grapes are hand-picked and pressed directly to French puncheons for wild fermentation and 10 months maturation. Sauvignon blanc seldom stands out in the Yarra Valley to the extent this does. It has real excitement in the mouth rioght through to the finish, the flavours are driven by lemon citrus and green apple.”

2017 Oakridge Original Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon

“The Original Vineyard (with a different owner) was planted on the red soils at Seville in a cooler and wetter climate than the Yarra Valley floor. The mature vines are no longer threatened by rain every vintage, and the wine is fragrant and ultra-juicy, redcurrant and cassis reflecting the 3-week maceration without a hint of extraction.”
