Oakridge Wins Langton’s 2019 Halliday Chardonnay Challenge
“I am extremely proud of this wine and believe that it’s one of our best yet. It all comes down to the quality of fruit grown on one of the Yarra Valley’s best sites”. ~ David Bicknell, Chief Winemaker
We are thrilled to announce that the 2017 864 Funder & Diamond Chardonnay has been declared the winner of the prestigious Langton’s 2019 James Halliday Chardonnay Challenge.
After scooping up multiple regional awards at this year’s Yarra Valley Wine Show, taking the white category with three awards; Best Chardonnay, Best Single Vineyard White and Best White Wine in Show, the 864 Chardonnay has taken out the top prize from over 400 other entries from regions across the country.

This prestigious award further cements Oakridge as one of the nation’s best wineries. The win is also recognition of Oakridge’s Chief Winemaker, David Bicknell, who has been instrumental in lifting the reputation of Australian chardonnay by producing expressive wines of restraint, depth and texture.
Of the 2017 864 Chardonnay, David says “I am extremely proud of this wine and believe that it’s one of our best yet. It all comes down to the quality of fruit grown on one of the Yarra Valley’s best sites”.
